Intro
One of our long-time clients, Ingenuity Engineers, a full-service MEP firm with expertise in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and low-voltage design, approached us for a 100,890 sq. ft. storage facility project. With 40+ state licenses and experience across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, Ingenuity Engineers is known for delivering quality, cost-effective engineering solutions.
For this project, they needed a cost-efficient and energy-conscious mechanical system design within a tight 2–3-week deadline. Given our history of successful collaborations, Uppteam stepped in to provide design support, ensuring a smooth and efficient process. Read on to learn more about the project.
Project Type: Commercial
Software Used: HAP, AutoCAD, and Energy Gauge Summit
Client Name: : Ingenuity Engineers
Task Assigned
Uppteam’s MEP design support team provided comprehensive design solutions for the massive storage facility, focusing on HVAC and energy systems. A well-designed HVAC system ensures optimal temperature control, humidity regulation, and air quality, which are crucial for preserving stored goods and maintaining energy efficiency.
The design process involved making critical decisions without having access to complete data on key factors, such as thermal values, construction details, and specific building dimensions.
Challenges
The key challenge was to adhere to the client’s timeline while ensuring the building’s systems were both energy-efficient and functional for a commercial storage facility.
While Uppteam handles tight timelines skillfully, the lack of available thermal and construction values at the outset made it challenging to complete the design within 2-3 weeks while planning energy-efficient designs.
Additionally, the initial panel schedule provided was incompatible with the project requirements, so we had to request a revised version to move forward. Another major challenge involved ductwork placement, as we needed to position the ducts along corridors while avoiding intersections with the storage walls to optimize space.

Solutions
Uppteam implemented strategic solutions to address challenges. We estimated ceiling, door, and window heights and confirmed these with the client. Our MEP design support team suggested options for dry well placement and finalized them together. We optimized refrigerant and condensate pipe routing by choosing the most efficient paths, saving time and resources.
Indoor units were positioned to enhance airflow and facilitate access for other trades. We proposed using an ion generator to reduce outdoor air duct size and provided supporting calculations.
