Intro

The West Collins project in Pooler, Georgia, presented an exciting opportunity for Uppteam to collaborate with a renowned architect. Find out how we helped our client expand their team’s capability in the following case study.

Project Type: Commercial

Software Used: Revit, AutoCAD, Trace 3D, Comcheck, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite

Task Assigned

The client wanted us to design the entire MEP design for the office building. They wanted to utilize our expertise in blending the intricacies of modern office design while maintaining a harmonious balance between functionality, efficiency, and architectural vision.

Challenges

The first major challenge we encountered was working with a complicated architectural design of the massive office building, spanning 28,852 sq. ft The unique layout and aesthetic considerations of West Collins required careful integration of MEP systems.

Determining the most efficient HVAC design strategy to meet both cooling and heating requirements across diverse zones of the office building compounded our challenge bucket for our mechanical design team.

Successfully designing the electrical room within the limited available space while coordinating with mechanical and structural elements presented another hurdle.

Solutions

By using Revit’s collaborative features, we could overlay our MEP designs with the architectural model in real time, allowing for immediate adjustments and optimizations.

Our team used Trace 3D to model and simulate various HVAC scenarios, optimizing for energy efficiency and comfort while proposing one of the best HVAC design systems available in the market. This system met the cooling and heating demands of all zones simultaneously and allowed for individual zone control based on specific requirements.

Our designers worked closely with the architectural and structural teams to propose optimal indoor equipment locations. Using Revit’s clash detection features, we ensured that our electrical design harmonized with other building systems and structural components. In addition to the technical complexities, the project’s 3-week timeline demanded careful planning and swift execution.
